His career started touring with "The Rowan Atkinson Stage Show", as Mr. Bean's straight man, doing voice-overs and scripting radio shows. In 1989, he joined the BBC TV sitcom "One Foot in the Grave" as Victor Meldrew's frustrated neighbour, before starting "Have I Got News for You" which has made him a household name.
