September -
Perhaps the most stunning of the 1995 images, "Pegasus"
was a marriage of traditional techniques and computer imaging. First,
a pure-bred Arab stallion, specially trained to walk on its hind legs,
was photographed in the studio. Secondly, a set of model wings was
photographed separately. Finally, the two were merged during long
hours over a computer screen somewhere in London's Docklands. In the
absence of any real-life reference material on flying horses, arguments
raged about the size of the wings and the shape of the wing muscles
to give the animal a look of authenticity. To parody the Superman
movies: "you'll believe a horse can fly". |
